ACTIVITIES
Our club offers many activities to its members at different times during the day or evenings, mostly during the week.
Many activities are members only, such as the two book clubs that meet monthly, (one is in English, the other in German). There are many language conversation groups for English, German, and French.
And there is the Women’s Faces group which meets monthly where a member shares her research about a woman who inspires her. There also are groups for movie lovers and for walks around town.
Some activities are open to members and potential members. There is the monthly speaker series called “Coffee and Chaos“ and the evening events called “Meet and Mingle“. Please find details on those events in the Upcoming Events folder.
There are activities for you and your spouse or significant other. For example there is the monthly happy hour which happens the first Friday of every month at the Champions Bar at the Marriott hotel, just show up and meet people! There are also periodic programs which are organised by the program team for the whole family. Thanksgiving Potluck in cooperation with Club International is just one example.
Lastly, there are two special activities every month that the program team organizes. These special events offer unique opportunities to club members such as day trips to neighbouring towns, museum tours with an English speaking guide, boat tours and more.
Our club is filled with individuals who are enthusiastic to try new activities. There is something for everyone at the International Women’s Club of Leipzig and we are always open for more suggestions!
IWC in Motion is a group that meets for outdoor exploration. Hikes in the surrounding areas and city walks are all part of the group dynamic. This group communicates with each other via whatsapp. Information can also be found in the newsletter.
The Charity Group works together and creates an incredible Holiday Bazaar. All proceeds from the Bazaar go toward supporting our local charities. It is a rewarding group to be part of, more information can be found in the newsletter.
Cinema Lovers´Club meets in different movie theatres around town to watch recent movie releases in OV (original version). This group communicates with each other via whatsapp. Information about how to join is in the newsletter.
Coffee Meet Ups happen periodically around town to chat in English and connect with other members. The dates and locations are usually found in the newsletter.
Women’s Faces is a group that meets monthly. One person in the group presents about an important woman whom they admire. Talks about Faith Ringgold, Mileva Marić, Barbra Streisand and Maria Reiche are just a few examples of the many extraordinary women the group has discussed.
Program Team is a group of women who work together to provide amazing monthly programs. The team usually offers 2 programs per month. Sometimes it’s an excursion to another town, other times it’s a museum tour by the curator in English. Every month it is something special! The newsletter gives up to date information about the monthly rograms.
German Conversation Groups meet once or twice a month. More information about the conversartion groups can be found in the newsletter. If you want an opportunity to practice your German and improve your conversations skills, join the fun!
The IWC Choir sings at our Holiday Bazaar in December. The group practices together twice and it’s exciting to learn new songs in several languages in such short time.
before the concert. The choir is part of our Charity Events. This means money is raised and donated to our charities by the choral participants. It is a wonderful way to meet members, enjoy singing, and give back to our community!
Meet and Mingles are evening events that take place in different neighborhoods throughout the city. At the moment groups get together in Gohlis, Markkleeberg and Schleußig. Information about dates and locations can be found in the newsletter and in the Upcoming Events folder.
French Conversation meets twice a month. Join the fun and brush up on your French. More information can be found in the newsletter.
Evening Get Together happens on the first Friday of every month at the Champions Bar inside the Marriott Hotel. Come join us for drinks at 8 pm. This is a pretty laid back event and it is a lot of fun. Bring your partner or come alone, the choice is yours. There is no sign up, there is no pressure to come, but often times you will meet other club members and their partners/ spouses for an evening of good discussions and general fun. Listen for the English, ask if they are IWC, pull up a chair and enjoy the evening! You are responsible for your own tab. See you there!
In English Conversation, women get together in small groups and talk about everything from politics and current events to vacations and family. A native speaker is available in each group. There are many different groups that meet. Come join the conversations!

English Book Club meets monthly. We usually read a different book each month and lively discussions ensue over coffee at Cafe Kandler at Thomaskirchhof. You are warmly welcome to join us and see if this is for you! More information can be found in the club newsletter.
Our German Book Club meets monthly at the Cafe Kandler an der Nikolaikirche. We have lively discussions about the book of the month. The book and conversation are in German. This gives members the opportunity to improve German language skills using critical thinking to express ideas. It is quite a lot of fun, join us! More information can be found in the newsletter.
Every year we celebrate a Traditional Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner with Club International. This event is a lot of fun and information about it can be found in our newsletter as well as the Club International of Leipzig website. You must register in advance for this event. Usually information becomes available in October.
The Holiday Bazaar is our huge end of the year party. It is planned by our charity team and it is SO much fun! People bid on items, the choir sings, and the talents are sold. What are talents? These are things members offer to other members. Maybe it is an Indian dinner or a belly dancing class. Maybe it’s an art lesson or a writing workshop. Essentially, our members offer talents to other members. All money made during this event goes directly to the charities we support.
